DIRECTOR
Since graduating in 2001 from the Victorian College of the Arts with a bachelor degree in directing and a cinematographers’ award, James Teh has carved out an award-winning career in advertising, short films, TV and music videos.
James’ talent as an advertising director has taken him from his hometown of Melbourne to work extensively throughout Sydney, Singapore and Vietnam earning him several awards for major clients along the way.
On Australian television James’ work, as both a director and DOP, on ‘John Safran’s Music Jamboree’ and ‘John Safran v God’ has contributed to the popular shows winning an Australian Film Institute Award.
Collaborating as director with comedian CJ Fortuna and writer/producer Joe Villanti on a sketch comedy show, ‘Angry Piñata’, James has added several major comedy awards to his resume including the International Comedy Channel Short Film Festival Best Film.
Utilising his skills as a DOP, James’ unique style is clearly stamped in the music videos he has directed for popular Australian bands including Grinspoon, Kisschasy and Bodyjar.
Now based in Melbourne, Australia, ever ambitious, James is currently developing the feature Vietnamese crime noir ‘Vendetta’ written by Joe Villanti.
